GOVERNMENT SPECIFICATIONS
There are exhaustive government requirements to satisfy in order to gain proper approvals for this project. In particular, Heritage, Council Planning, Building Approval, Tenement Accommodation Standards and Fire Standards. These are available in associated Documentation below
It is important to the trustees to get a result that will enable badly needed maintenance on the property and ensure that the proposed redevelopment is SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT. It would be greatly efficient to make use of the fast tracking sustainable development unit of the BCC in order that we can efficiently move through this process.
Development Assessment Sustainability Team
What is sustainable development?
Sustainable development means using resources wisely so that future generations will have the same opportunities as we do. It can include such factors as designing for climate, selecting appropriate building materials and maintaining biodiversity. What does sustainable development have to do with Brisbane City Council?
With South East Queensland the fastest growing metropolitan area in Australia, we have a great opportunity, and some would say a duty, to promote sustainable development. Brisbane can lead by example, and show that sustainable development is achievable and affordable. That’s where Council’s Development Assessment Sustainability Team come in.
How does Council encourage sustainable development?
Council’s Development Assessment Sustainability Team includes staff from disciplines including planning, architecture, landscape architecture, environmental pollution, ecology and engineering. Their role is to liaise with the development industry and propose amendments to planning legislation to remove barriers to sustainable development. They also facilitate the assessment of development applications demonstrating significant sustainability initiatives and can provide advice on how to make your development more sustainable.
If you would like to discuss ways that your development application can benefit from a sustainable approach, please contact Council on 3403 8888 and ask to speak to the Development Assessment Sustainability Team.
